I've retired my glass vase remote system after an overenthusiastic night involving hot wings and homemade beer left it cracked. We actually bought this tray from CB2 thinking it would be a little bed for Netflixes inside our TV credenza, but when it didn't fit, it got a new, very important job: remote bitch.

This is my new pendant lamp shade — it's white with a subtle pattern and it seems kinda boring, but I think it's a good straight man to the new wacky green chairs.

Here is my temporary solution for my lack-of-dream-chairs situation. I've had my eye on these Ikea chairs for a long time, but didn't have the outdoor area for them. I adapted them for indoor, thinking how Kartell stuff (AKA plastic design royalty) is in such high esteem, you know?
The plan is that I'll continue to look for some amazing chairs for the table, and then stack these somewhere else for extra seating. ALTHOUGH. I kind of like them more than the Danish wooden chairs I was looking for. What ta do!

Dude I so knew that a floor lamp was the key to me really enjoying my living room. We got this white lamp from Ikea (total DWR knockoff!) and though it could use more space (it'll rock when we get rid of this gargantuan desk), I'm pretty obsessed with it, and the fact that I can read my mags on the couch without the overhead prison light on.

I sensed you were totally despairing about my chair situation after my last post. Look it's fine. I have a plan. It involves a trip to Ikea and a temporary but hopefully fabulous fix.
Before I implement my plan, you have to meet the chair who's about to be replaced. It's my Emeco Navy chair. I love Emeco chairs and I got this one from eBay, knowing it had a rip in the seat, but planning all along to repair it. Surprise! I didn't. It got worse. Now it's dead to me and about to be placed on Craigslist for someone similarly ambitious but hopefully far more successful.
Fun fact: the eBay seller who sold it to me also included a dead mouse in the chair box! I won't be mentioning that in my Craigslist ad.

I've been hunting for a friggin' matching chair to this one for a couple months now, but it is eluding me (also I guess I could be trying harder). So we have a couple of pinch hitters working now, including this desk chair from Mike's old days. Like really old days. Like high school. Normally I would not allow this business to be seen but we need to put guest butts in chairs, so here it is. For some reason everyone seems to always focus on the tennis balls protecting the floor from its feet. No idea why.

At long (far too long) last, TiVo is back in my life. Now it's way newer and improveder (it's the HD box), so I'm even more psyched on welcoming it back. Live TV watching is no way to live. No way!

My black thumb is well documented. Luckily, I try to recycle planters and the pots the erstwhile green things came in. So win-win. Except for the plants. This situation sucks for them.

Maybe it's my fault that I hog the big closet with all my shoes. But this is the state of our living room at most times. It can be totally cleaned up, and then I look under the coffee table, and there are no less than two man pairs of shoes. It makes me nuts, but then, I talk to myself and he has to put up with that.

I've alluded to (and have posted about) my non-green-thumbiness. Whatever. I do other things well. But this bamboo is Mike's, and it appears to be thriving. Congratulations, Mike! All it needs to survive is a steady diet of not-me.
